<img src="/forums/images/graemlins/zombie.gif" alt="" />My truck just failed emmissions test. it had too much Carbon Monoxide, CO.

The hydrocardons, HC are within specs. So are the Oxides of Nitrogen, NOx.

I just fixed a hell of a misfire (burned exhasut valve) I had a gas analizer hooked up to it before the repair ans HC readings were as if i took it from the reading from the gas tank.
I am wondering if all this time all that gas could have damaged the cat????
does anyone have any ideas???? <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/zombie.gif" alt="" />

Check your timing. CO is generally incomplete combustion which can result from insufficient air/fuel or not enough time to burn. The cat converter is for knocking down NOX so if you passed on that your cat is probably OK. Make sure your EGR is functioning properly.

Isnt the cat for nox, hydrocarbons, and co????
Isnt that why they call it a 3 way cat.
i am a litle confunsed. as I understand co and hydro go hand in hand. if one goes up so does the other.
Now my nox reading is a litle high too.

Should I through a cat in and hope for a pass??, my timing is good 12 degrees BDTC at +- 900 rpm. is,t that the specs???
