Need a Spot
Hi have a 1996 3.2L V6 Trooper / Jackaroo (Oz)
sounds like a sick diesel
so far have replaced
Timing belt,Lifters & Oil Pump
starts off very quiet in morning by end of day a sick diesel have run out of ideas on what to try next

did you replace the gas-charged tensioned when you did the timing belt? not sure about the fact that it starts off quiet in the morning, but that's a pretty common cause of a knocking noise. Did you buy all brand new lifters? <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/scared.gif" alt="" />

Getting the Wheeling Fever
G'day fom a fellow Jackaroo owner.

Mine is a '97 3.2V6 and I haven't (yet) experienced this problem but I have noted several threads about it on various forums:

From new I have always used Castrol engine oil - either GTX3 or Magnatec - so far OK.

I presume that you have experimented with oils?


Aussie 1997 3.2V6 SOHC 6VD1 Holden Jackaroo SE (Isuzu Trooper/Bighorn/Monterey) 5-speed manual, rear LSD, front Lokka (manual free-wheel hubs).
