For those who stress out over Isuzu's oil burning rep (from some anyway), I took my 93 Trooper to Moab, about 1300 miles each way at 75 mph and 3400 rpm, plus five day-long trail rides and general driving around out there, over 3000 miles total.
Total oil consumption: 1/2 quart. Guess I didn't need the 3 spare quarts I brought with me...
Oil was Mobil One 5W-30. I have been, and continue to be a Mobil One fan

I noticed a slight decrease with Mobil 1 in my 2nd Gen (a notorious oil burner). I switched to Shell Rotella and it doesn't burn as much. It went from about 1qt/900 miles to 1qt/1800 miles. Then again I think my DOHC 3.2's oil consumption stems from something different than the earlier motors.
BTW, Your Troop is looking nice with the new meats. You drove by my cabin on Mille Lacs on Sunday. I heard your tires hummin' well before I saw you. The red mud adds a nice touch.

Heh, wheeling in the rain in the Iron Range will do that. And the tires aren't that loud...not compared to some, anyway Man I couldn't believe how many boat trailers were stacked up around the landings, good thing Mille Lacs is a big lake.
Sounds like the Rotella is doing the trick, that is "acceptable" burnage. I would try it if the Mobil One wasn't working so well for me, as it always has.

I know I've got a GM (2.8) engine....
but, when I drain my oil it's exactly 4 quarts, pours out of the drain pan and fills a 1 gallon bleach bottle to take down to the parts store. I then put 4 quarts back into the truck and drive another 4,000 miles and repeat.
Now that I think of it, I've only ever had one car that consumed/leaked/burned oil... including all the neglected used hooptys I've owned.
What's the contributing factor?
