Need a Spot
My name is Matt, IÆm 25 y/o and I live in Fresno, CA (central CA). I grew up in a small town called Oakhurst, about 30 min from Yosemite N.P. I have done some "beginner," beginner 4WD, but recently became more interested in it. I own a 1999, 4WD, "stock," with 31" tire, Toyota Tacoma. It has lived most its life as a back and forth to work vehicle. Only put into 4WD to go woodcutting or to drive in snow. IÆm interested in some "Easy" to "Moderate" trails (or as far as a stock will go!). I am inexperienced and wanted to learn from some experts! If you have any tips for me, I am all ears.

Welcome to the Wire.

It's been a long time, but here's what I remember; My Dad took me to some dirt (soft dirt) with some shallow ditches here and there, way out in the boonies. He showed me where 4Lo was and told me never touch the brakes, feather the gas and go SLOW. Worked like a charm, I hardly ever break stuff, except when I wheel.

Kidding aside (although that is really how I learned), hook up with a local club that teaches newbies. I was lucky enough to hang with some really good folks to learn the crawling aspect of the hobby, check out your local clubs!
