im looking to get a mirror so i can stay legal with my doors off and im going back and forth between the Lange Quick-Release Mirrors. the 1st on is the quick-release 1 that goes into the door hinge but i cant see how its secured in there and i dont know how well it would stay. the other is the quick-release 2 that goes on the windshield hinge and i can see that it sits in there fine and it would be secure but its $10 more than the first one. what do you guys think? and if you have a better suggestion like a different brand or something then let me know. thanks

It might help to know what kind of vehicle you're talking about.

First thing I'd do is see which screws/bolts need to be taken out for the install. I'd go see if they were too tight to take out without a torch! The tightness of these might help me make up my mind.

A couple of different manufacturers make mirrors that attach to the windshield hinges, and they hwork well. I've got a pair made by Kentrol on my CJ and I've been happy with them. Allows me to just lift off my doors and not worry about mirrors.

I've got the same thing...May not be Kentrol, but they fit in the hinge hole and have a screw clamp to tighten to the frame. Bout 40 bucks each I think. Quadratec had them IIRC. I like them just fine, easy in and out and they were still good after sitting in some pretty nasty water for a couple of months. They vibrate more than the door mirrors, but you get used to it.

The ones I have from Kentrol don't mount in the hinge holes. They use the four small threaded holes on the front surface of each hinge. They are basically permanently mounted there, and I don't have to mess with them when I take the doors on or off.
