5VZ-FE Operating Temp? #817188 06/07/07 05:40 AM

Does anyone know what the proper operating temp for a 5VZ-FE motor is......and what temp the stock Thermostat is rated at?

I'm trying to finish up my Taurus Fan mod and custom gauge cluster mods and the only thing left is to check that the temp gauge is reading correctly (have an infa-red temp reader for that) and to program the fan controller. I have one of them fancy SPAL fan controllers and I need to set the low (on) and high temp (max fan speed) for the controller.

I believe the stat begins to open at ~180* and is fully open at around 190*. I'd say you want the fan on around 190 and max @200. The exact stat specs should be in the FSM.

HAH, I just so happen to have the specs for the 5vzfe Tstat. The Opening temp is 176*-183* and the max lift is supposed to be @ 203*. So its safe to say your range is 180-200.

Nice....I saw a bunhc of aftermarket thermostats that were rated at 180. But I could have swarn I had heard it was 190.

I set the the fan controller to come on at 160 and to hit max at 200.

The darn thing is hard to warm up....it went up to 160 alright and as soon as the t-stat open it crawled ever so slowly to 195....and that was with no fan! The whole opertion probably took me 20 minutes. Teh truck never ever had a problem with temp.....not with the 3.slow not even with the 3.4L in the desert, when I was beating on it.....Just never seen a motor that didn't like to get warm.....not that I'm compaining
