Rim/Tyre Question #817841 06/10/07 01:37 PM

I bought some second hand rims/tyres for the rustylux yesterday and hit a mild dilemma. When I fitted the front 2 rims the balancing weights mounted to the back of the rims hit the steering knuckle. I had to remove the balancing weight and even then theres only 2mm or so clearance between the knuckle and rim.

So the question is... Do you think I was sold the wrong offset rims or are they usually like this? I can't remember the rim size (it's dark outside at atm) but they're fitted with 31 x 10.5 15" tyres.

Backspacing on the solid axle rims is 3-3/8" (~85mm), you might have gotten rims with 4" or more backspacing and those will hit the steering or brake conponents.

You can buy some 1/4" spacers if that would be enough. They slide over the lug studs and are reatively cheep compared to the bolt on wheel spacers.
