Not bad options there Steve... How much does something like that go for these days?

I found this, which is VERY entertaining. w/D60s and ready to tackle anything I would want to throw at it.

But like I say, I am considering everything and keeping the eyes/ears open for a deal.

Keith, the 3 options I woulde explore.

If you can find one and they are big enough the FJ-80 would be the most trail worthy for the least amount of work. Good size, good drive train, solid axles already.

Second option is the newest solid axle suburbabn you can find. I think '92 was the last year or do an SAS on a newer one. The older ones are pretty cheap and easy to lift, fitting 35's is easy, decent drive trains and easy and cheap to work on. If you're looking to carry 4-5 adults and the hound plus gear for a week, its THE way to go. Would flat tow the Amigo pretty well too.

I'll admit I like the big cherokees/wagoneers. Pick one up, they're cheap. Swap in worthy axles, its easy. Then grab a 4 cylinder Cummins and your favorite trans. Smoke and travel away!

Regardless you need some sort of pre-runner type suspension...I've seen you drive!

Of course you could get by for a few more years until some one will probably want his own ride...
