I realize ther is ECM, fuel line, transmission, tach, and a few driveline issues. Is it able to be done?

Anything is possible with enough skill and/or $$. Is it an easy swap? I'd say no, as there is a huge list of stuff you'd also need, like a fuel tank and lines, that you did not list. Read this forum and there are several people who asked this exact question since I joined the forum last year. Many claimed to have the parts, none have posted a completed swap. Just think how many F150 gas to diesel swaps have you seen? There must be a reason that's not common, and those are the most popular vehicles on the planet.
My buddy has a Toyota minitruck chassis, extended with the back half of a 2nd cab and a flat deck out back. This sits on FJ-60 axles, with a 3.0L V6 from a 4-Runner and Marlin Crawler Toybox dual t-cases and steering. Mind you that's full custom crossmembers, engine mounts, e-brake and everything, starting with a bare frame. If you are able to tackle something like that, go for it, otherwise you are way better off selling your gasser and buying a diesel.
Whatever happened to the guy with the 6.0L chevy in his raider? That was a cool build.

If I could fit the 3,2 Di-D, I'm sure you could fit the 2,5 TD.
The mechanical bits are "easy". The electronic bits took the most time and fiddling.
If you can find a half-cut with all peripherals and the full wiring loom, you should be OK.
You'll need a wiring diagram, most probably.
Worth it? I don't think so, but that was not you question.
Maybe sell the V6 and import a 2.5TD? (as previously stated)

As too importing a diesel Pajero into the States. Have any members done it, and what's involved? I see alot of you oil-burners in Canada, but I haven't come across any in the states. I'm pretty sure they were never imported in diesel fashion, so I haven't been able to drive one, of course. But if any of you more-than-one Monty guys have a gas and diesel, what's the difference in the 2 as related to power. I understand there will be differences in power and torque relative to the 4cyl or 6cyl gas and the comparative displacements of the diesel (in their respective variants), just curious. Any help or input from you senior (meant experienced, not elderly gosh) would be very much appreciated. Phil, if this needs to be a new thread, make the appropriate changes please. Thx, Larry

If power is at all a concern, you don't want the diesel. I go nowhere fast, but it gets out of it's own way and is enough for me. 25-30mpg is good too.

The 25-30 mpg sounds great . I'm not really concerned with power as much as I am torque. My RS is a DD, but I only drive it about 8-10 miles a day round trip to and from work, and I rarely hit 45mph. On road behavior is important, but, I actually care more for toque in an off-road environment. If it will be able to maintain 70 mph on an interstate, I'm happy. It's stock now, but I plan to put a 2 inch body lift from Roger under it, as well as genII coils and locking 3rd member. I will be getting some 235/85R16's on black wagon wheels from Whitelespaul in August, but I eventually intend to swap the tires for 34x9x16 Super Swampers. I want the requisite snorkel, roof rack, bumpers and sliders (by Don), winch, hi-lift, jerry cans/custom spare holder, 2 1/4" hi-flow cat & back exhaust system and such to go along with it. I'm just trying to figure out which direction to take with the engine. Mine has 200k on it. Runs strong, but has the typical lifter tick, and a very pathetic incontinence problem (oil pan and filter adapter plate.) It seems like rebuilding my motor or swapping in a diesel or later/larger petrol V6 will likely be a neck and neck deal, as far as pricing goes. I just don't know what I want to do I want someone to jump up a say "DO THE (fill in the blank)"

Short trips are not great for the rattly motor. This engine takes its time warming up, and cold starts are messy for the first min or two. I wouldn't drive this truck regularly as a short trip rig, I don't think... now once its warmed up and smoothed out, its a beauty!

I've been thinking about a remote start system, too. Would something like that help? Like starting it 10-15 minutes before I leave? And, when you say short trips are not good with a diesel, is this all diesels? I've had a couple and friends have had a few that are short trip/around town vehicles. They haven't had any issues that I know of. Just curious as to why you say short trips are a general no-no, not trying to be argumentative BTW, Thx for your input on this. It's hard to find people who have done things like this before.

This is the only diesel I've ever had, and that is just my opinion. Short trips are hard on any engine as you know, but I just know what mine is like to start on a cold morning, so I think short trips would be harder on it, since It doesn't fully warm up.
As far as remote starters, I have a starter/alarm combo sitting on my shelf in the back porch, just haven't had it put in yet... When I do, I'll let you know.
