Getting the Wheeling Fever
Good day all

When doing a ball joint flip, when is the addition of a spacer necessary? I am considering going the conservative route and opt for a 2" suspension lift, and a flip on the front end. Should a spacer be considered and how thick should the spacer be?

Happy travels

Body Damage is Cool
Nothing bigger than 1/4 inch for the spacer.

With 2" of lift, a spacer shouldn't be necessary. When Joe was selling them, he marketed the spacers toward people with 3+" of lift.

Any reason why it shouldn't / can't be done with a 2" lift?

Is there a template for the spacer available somewhere?

What the spacer will gain you in lift is negligible. The spacer is there to help realign the suspension so that it can be brought within specs. With 2 or less inches of lift, this isn't a problem. There is plenty of leeway for the alignment to be brought to specs. But with 3+" of lift, it becomes increasingly more difficult to get it to within specs. That's why you put the spacer in there ; it helps realign things so that it can be properly aligned.

Forgot to add ...

The problem with adding a spacer with such minimal lift is that it can also through your alignment out so bad that it can't be brought within the specs. It's just the opposite of what you'd get with too much lift without the spacer. Hope that made sense.
