THOSE COVERS WERE PUT ON THERE FOR ANOTHER REASON, OTHER THAN PROTECT THE ELECTRICS FROM WATER,THEY WERE TO CHANNEL AIR FROM THE FRONT TO THE REAR OVER THE TOP OF THE ENG TO HELP COOL THE IGN MODULE, AND FOR A BIT OF LOOKS . BUT ITS PRIMARY REASON WAS FOR COOLING . JERRY

I wonder if it helps to keep the intake manifold gaskets cooler? Which would cause them to fail less frequently?

PROBABLY MINIMAL , I HAVE 90.000 MILES ON MY TROOPER WITH OUT THE TOP ON IT AND IT HAS THE ORIG , GASKETS , THE NEW STYLE GASKETS IF INSTALLED ON A CLEAN SURFACE AND TORQUED
CORRECTLY DOESNT SEEM TO BE GIVING TOO MUCH PROB, ANY MORE JERRY
