Fry any bulbs? Fry any electronics? If you don't know how far above 16V it went, it might be time to start asking what max voltage the trucks components can handle.

When my alternator did the same thing, I parked it damn quickly despite the fact the low beams were working exceedingly well....

All my 'lectrons still seem to go where they should and do what they should, and all my bulbs still work. I didn't let it stay at 16 long before I loaded it up a dropped the voltage, certainly not til noon. More like 10 seconds or so.

I've successfully used an 18v DeWalt tool battery to jump start my truck before, when stranded in the boonies. More central terminal is +, one towards end is -. 14ga Romex made the jumper cable...
