i didnt miss anything.H/c levels dont have a dang thing to do with spark plug brands. The engine is running rich at idle, plain and simple. If an injector seal was bad you would more than likely have a constant lean miss that wouldnt go away at 2500 rpm.The fuel pressure regulator diaphragm failure seems most probabable.Fuel pressure would be high at idle causing increased h/c,but when engine rpms increased the engine would be using the increased fuel pressure.Just my .02.P/s,splitfire sf6d is the money plug for my 22re.

If the plug doesn't fire right, it won't burn the idle mix... Thus higher HC.

Don't understand something. Bosch plugs are no good and don't fire properly etc in a
Toyota but are good enough for $160,000 Porsche Turbo. Bottom line is that different brands have bigger or narrower heat ranges. You may have to change heat range of plug depending on timing, comp ratio, fuel and on and on it goes. Not trying to be an <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/butwiggle.gif" alt="" /> about this but plug brand is not a factor in this situation but rather heat range is the factor if anything.

I don't fully understand it, either. Bosch is supposed to be a good brand, but for some reason, they don't agree with the 22RE.

Now, if plug brand doesn't make a difference, go outside and throw some Champion or Autolites in your truck... Let us know how it runs.

Yes, Bosch is usally pretty good, and in a German vehicle, that is what I use. I put all Bosch parts in my VW, they work the best and last the longest (and is what VW puts on the cars new).

Seems that in the Toyota, though, it is Denso or NGK that work the best (since those are the brands Toyota uses).

Congrats, I figure unless a vehicle is a total worn out piece of beagle dropping, it usually takes something very minor to fix and get on the good side of the smog police.

Awesome, glad you passed finally. Its always something small and stupid like that, or at least it seems that way.
