Getting the Wheeling Fever
The horn button in my 89 4runner isn't working, but the horn itself is. What's the process for pulling the center cover off the steering wheel and repairing the contacts?

Thanks,

Michael

Just a few screws on the backside of the steering wheel. It'll pop right off.

Body Damage is Cool
Then remove the big nut holding the wheel on and pop it off.
The spring loaded contact in the column wears out.

To pull the steering wheel (assuming no steering wheel puller), I loosen the nut but leave it on the end of the shaft (a few turns at least). Then sit in the driver's seat and give the wheel a good tug. If it does pop loose, the nut on the end of the shaft will keep the wheel out of your face!

Yes but it is soooo much more fun to go flying backwards against the seat, and knock yerself in da teef wit da wheel....

BTW, IIRC, the torque on said nut for reassembly is 25 ft-lbs
