My 3.5 Trooper is stalling when idling. Idle seems low ~500rpm, Seems to only happen when pulling away from a stop light. I just cleaned the ERG last week, but it was fairly clean: No CEL, and newish spark plugs. The RPM's do not hunt, they are just low.

Any ideas on what to try next?

my guess is it is the intake manifold gasket.

So, spray the intake manifold down with carb cleaner and see if the RPM's increase?

Any other ideas?

P.S. it has 85k miles on it.

Thanks, great right-up!
No intake leaks and I tried cleaning the MAS. I also noticed that there is a fair amount of slack in the throttle cable. Is that normal?

Just because the carb cleaner didn't show anything means nothing. I tried using propane with a rubber hose to find where mine was leaking. I never found any leaks, but finally my CEL came on and I got the tale-tell code saying I was running lean.

This will almost always confirm an IMG problem when accompanied by IMG type symptoms. Mine were cracked bad. Both sides.

I gave up and took it to a shop. They said that it was the ERG Valve...broken open. When I cleaned it it seemed to have plenty of spring in the valve. Any ideas? Should I just buy a new one?
