Now that I've added new bigger tires to the Rodeo, how do I determine the proper inflation?

Thanks!

since wheel width, load weight, and other factors all come into play the best way is time consuming but it is the most accurate way is to draw a line of chalk across the width of the tire about 2 inches wide. set your tire pressure at what you think is about right. Then drive it down the road and back. Check for rubbed off chalk. This exposes what part of your tire contacts the ground the most. Worn off on the center= too much pressure, worn on the outsides= too little pressure. Ideally you want all of the chalk to be gone.

I'll agree with the above, except for the drive it down the road. You really wanna test this on a flat level surface. The road can have all sorts of imperfections that can invalidate your test. No need to drive it either. Just roll it so that the tire makes at least one revolution. Then check it and adjust until you get a nice even wearing.

Yeah by "the road" I should have specified level, smooth road. I don't like the roll down your driveway method, cause one revolution didn't work well for me. Maybe my chalk was too tough.

But most roads have a crown in them to help water get off the roadway faster.

I just inflate my tires to the recommended psi listed on the tires.

If you look on the tires, it says max psi. Only time you'll want to run that psi is if you're at the max weight rating for the tire.

I just keep letting the air out until I can get traction back. If it pops off the bead, you let too much out <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/notooth.gif" alt="" />
