Here is a summary of my (ominously) anticipated 99,880kM service..

What needed to be done for sure..

Timing belts & belt pullies
Drivers side Caliper

What I actually decided to have done after humming and hawing it for a bit..

Both rotors
Both Calipers
New pads.
Both sets of front bearings (inner and outer)
Timing belts & Belt pullies.
AC recharge.

What was found additionally.

Leak in the front crank seal.
Snaped bolt for the bull bar. (removed old installed new)

Final total..

Calipers, rotors ,bearings & pads $468
Front oil seal $17
AC recharge $60
Timing belt & pullies 55GBpounds
Labour $300

Results..

10 days with the truck off the road, but at the labour rate I paid I can deal with that.

Milage is now 10.8L/100kM (25.5 mi/imp Gal), better than the 12.5 to 13 I was getting before service. I am guessing it is a combination of lower rolling resistance with the bearing change (burnt bearings were found) and the new belts.

Front end is much tighter. There is still a slight shimmy between 95KM/h and 100KM/h but I think that is tires and should be fixed by a tire rotation.

AC worked for 3 days before something let go. I was able to track the leak to something close to the compressor as it blead off. Could even be the new R134 adapter installed. I will have the Mechanic look at this weekend I hope.

All in all it turned out OK...I have put 1,000km on it since the work was done.

Next is to find a local shop to whip up a new 2.5" exhaust as the muffler I got with the truck is on its last legs.

You should have did the water pump while you did the timing belt. That is a big increase in fuel effciency. Maybe I should look at getting my bearings checked.

Actually I looked at that as well myself while the mechanic was doing the work.. The weeping hole was a dry as a bone with not even a hint of a ring of where fluid had dripped, pooled or evaporated...

that doesn't meat it won't start weeping tomorrow though. I changed my water pump while I had everything apart. my thinking is why not do it all at once...then you know its all good and should last a while.

Anybody got a part# for the Water pump? My Paj is getting belts done tomorrow! If I can find one in time I'll get that done as well.

a new water pump won't give you better fuel efficiency...if the bearing is fried then you have bigger problems then fuel effeciency.

I used a brand new GMB water pump but im sorry I don't have the part number for it. and it is DIFFERENT than the 2.3 4D55 water pump. I guess you can adapt the 2.3 water pump to the 2.5 with the 2.3 water pipe, they must be different.
