Getting the Wheeling Fever
Hello all. I've been looking for a 4JB1 for a few months now and not having any luck (I'm using the same importer Adrian used, but supply seems to have faded). So now I'm curious about using a 4JG2 instead of the 4JB1. My understanding is that the '92-'95 4JG2's are mechanical injection which is what I'm looking for. Does anyone know if the 4JG2 uses the same motor mount points for the motor/transmission? If the same mount points are used (if it's a bolt in motor/transmission mount affair) like the 4JB1, then I'll go for that motor (I guess there are a few available through the importer).

Thanks in advance!

Paul

Body Damage is Cool
THE MOUNTS SHOULD BE IN THE SAME LOCATION, BOTH ENGS WERE USED AT ONE TIME OR THE OTHER IN THE SAME VEH AND THE ENG IS IN THE SAME FAMILY OF ENGS , FROM THE DRAWING THAT I HAVE THE FOOT PRINT ON BOTH ENGS LOOK TO BE THE SAME
ONE IS JUST A LARGER DISPLACEMENT ,JERRY

Thanks so much Jerry. I'll be talking to the importer again next week, I'll see if he has access to a mechanical inj. G2 that he can get me, or if he can source one.

I appreciate your help.

Paul

What Jerry has said above echoes what I've read in various places - I have even heard that the two engines share the same block casting. My guess is that the 4JG2 would drop right in.

This is, however, all anecdotal evidence, unfortunately -- now you'll get to pioneer a diesel conversion, too, Paul! (Although I really think the process will be basically identical to what I've done with the 4JB1).
