Getting the Wheeling Fever
Well I finished my SAS today <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />.....kind of

Went to put the wheels on and they hit the caliper. Anyone else had this problem?

Should I buy wheel spacers or wheels to fix the problem?

95 pickup, stock ifs calipers, axle is off a pre 84 truck I think because it does not have the top gusset.

I also noticed that my calipers are a little different than the junk pick-up I tore up a couple years ago for parts....my brake pads are about 4 7/8" long, compared to 4 1/4" off the other truck. Also two of the pistons in my calipers are a little larger than the calipers that had the smaller pads. Unfortunately I only have only one of those calipers from the junk truck, gave the other to a friend.

Everything else looks great, I used toy rears up front and a marlin high steer kit.

I do have one other small problem. My passenger side sags a little, about 3/8".

I could use some suggestions on what to do and where to buy it.

I'm going to try and get some pics up tomorrow.

I have v6 calipers and it does look like they would hit my rims without the wheel spacers.

Its a 4 cyl truck but maybe it has the v6 calipers?

What size wheel spacers do you have?

If you are running the stock wheels (~4-7/8" backspacing) you'll need ~3/4" spacers (or more) to clear the brakes/steering arms, or wheels with 4" or less backspacing.

For the sagging, a spring perch spacer will help level out the spring perch heights:

if you are using equally arched springs.

I have a 1.5" spacer, although I don't think I need THAT much to clear it. I think its just the ifs calipers in general though.

Yes, most people use 1.5" spacers to match the width of the rear axle.

I wouldn't worry about the 3/8" sag. Take it off road a couple times and then see where everything sits. Mine is probably sagging 1-2 inches on one side.

If you have to ask about a SAS, you're not ready for it.

What type of springs are you running in the front? Some of the aftermarket springs like Pro-Comp, Downey, NWOR, and others are not equal in arch. They do that because the DS spring perch is lower then the PS perch.
