I have done everything suggested.Still no luck.It has new distrib, distrib cap, plugwires, fuelfilter, coil with ignition transistor, fuelpump, engine electrical relay,ECM heatsensor, ignition switch,Starter. I have pulled all wire harnesses apart. And ran current thru each wire to make sure no breaks in wires.Checked vacuam lines for cracks and breaks.I put meter on the ECM it flashed ECM heat sensor changed it.Started ran short time died no start, no spark Checked computer again said crank angle sensor code thats in new distr. If im not mistaking.Checked all wires and connectors.Cleaned connections.Had to stop working pulled batt out for my pick up.Back to work.Put battery back in checked ECM with meter its flashing short steady pulses this is good.Raider starts runs about 5 min DIES.Check code on meter still short steady pulses. This is good but still no start. Can this maybe be the computer.I have had the cover off ECM dont see no browning on boards ,no corrosion,no funny smells.I have cleaned all grounds and even added grounds from batt to coil, batt to ECM,batt to starter.I dont want to ramble.I find my self doing that a lot lately.I hate to bowdown and take to dealer.Anyone got ECM for 3.0 1989 Dodge Raider they want to sell <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/lol.gif" alt="" />.Or somemore ideas that havent been tried. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/zombie.gif" alt="" /> Thanks for all your ideas. This site really does ROCK.....

Check your ECM for the part # stamped on top - I tink it should be a #6477 if you have a Federal model. I may have an extra ECM.

Yes. The ECM has numbers 6477. How much do you want for it? Thanks

Try one thing first. When it dies, chill the power transistor (black box on coil bracket) and the whole dizzy body. I'd use ice packs. This tests for a heat failed component. You should get a much quicker restart. Test one at a time. I'd also clean the dickens out of the connectors to the power trans. and dizzy, as you could be getting a heat expansion disconnect in the connector as an iffy connector becomes non connect with a tad of heat induced physical connector creep. And "resistance tends to increase with the temperature of the conductor"...

I pulled distrib and cleaned all wires and connectors.I had it on top dead center. Set the distrib back in correct order towards no1 cyl.It acted like out of time.Pulled cap made sure all was correct.Still acted out of time.Pulled distrib.Moved 180 deg to see if that was problem.Made timing worst switced back.Still acted out of time.I started moving timing one tooth at a time.Finaly fired and ran for awhole day thought this is crazy? Must have jumped time.Next morning fired up no problem ran its normal 15min and stalled the way it has been all summer. This time it showed a code crank angle sensor.Dam thats a new distrib. So i thought well it jumped time.Stopped on way home bought new timing belt.Pulled it a part.Belt looks new all timing marks are in alignment.Sometimes it acts out of time when you try to start it other times it starts and runs fine for a few min sometimes all day.Sometimes when it dies it fires back up.Other times acts out of time. If you kep switching key on and off sometimes it will fire sometimes acts out of time. Will only run with rotor facing towards front of engine compartment.About 3 teeth off.Could this be a bad reman distrib. The distrib is only a year old.Its had this problem for along time. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/scared.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif" alt="" />

With the engine on TDC (compression stroke), the rotor should point to the rear of the engine..... like this:

Higgins, you do know that the cap towers are NOT in line with the internal cap contacts? IOW, the wires do NOT go on the cap in the firing order? Look at the underside of the cap and you can trace the path to the external tower from the internal post. This can make your life interesting...
