recently picked up a 93 xtra cab that only has the two dash speakers. I would like to use the rear seats... so boxes are not an option. How have you all added extra speakers in these trucks? Pictures would be helpful if you have any... thanks!

I installed speakers onto the small covers that open up under the pop out windows. I was able to fit a 6 1/2" speaker there and it looks pretty clean. Sorry no pics.

I installed speakers onto the small holes under the pop out windows. a 8" jl audio sub in each hole,,,i made 2 boxes and installed them from the rear of the panel,,,it looks factory,,,i also installed a 12" jl audio under the rear drivers side seat (in the storage compartment),,i made the box the same size and shape as the hole,,,,1" dome tweeters on the front pillers,,,4" speakers in the dash,,,and q-logic kick panels with 1" dome tweeters and 6 1/2 speakers,,,,,,,,amps fit under my seats and crossover in the glove box,,,,,,,,you can also put some in the doors,,,and if you look at the rear trim panels in the extended cab, down in the back you will see what looks like a vent,,,you can fit 4x6 speakers in there,,,,,,jl audio also makes a box for the extended cab that goes in the middle of the 2 rear seats,,,,,,,,,,,,,i do not know how to post pictures on here but if somebody tells me how i will take some and post them

6 x 9 Word of warning if you really wheel your rig becareful if you mount stuff in the storage places. They will leak. I ruined to amps I had mounted in there. ![[Linked Image]](http://pics.montypics.com/oops/2007-07-13/1184384677_rear_speaker.jpg)

6 x 9 Word of warning if you really wheel your rig becareful if you mount stuff in the storage places. They will leak. I ruined to amps I had mounted in there. This is similar to the set up my dad had in his old 89 x-cab. it worked good, along with two small speakers in the doors. in my truck, i have two 6.5 in kenwoods mounted in the doors under the window crank, then two speaker boxes with a 10" and a tweeter each behind the seats. that works well for me, even without an amp.

You can get good sound(high, mid, and bass) if you split the speakers up, i.e., installing your tweeter and mids in the dash, and bass speakers in the doors. If you have wing windows, you can run a 6.5" speaker in the door w/o having problems with the window hitting the magnet. I will post a pic of the door speaker tomarrow
In my '91 I plan to run something similar, but rather than in the door, I will put the speakers in the rear section(in the middle of the rear two seats) of custom center console I am building, similar to what is in 2 seater sports cars like the Viper. This way I don't have to have two sets of door speakers if/when I build 1/2 doors for it.
More than tread lightly. Leave it like you were never there, nor anyone else. '90 X-cab 4.88's 33 BFG AT's, rr ARB, Headers, Ignition upgrade, cold air induction. '91 X-cab 5.29's 315's BFG MT's, rr ARB, custom bumper and flatbed

I have a 10" sub in the storage where the rear driver passenger's seat. Oh if if you seal the storage box area, it help out the sub too. For my amp for my sub is mounted on a board behind the rear side panel where the storage box is. its a pretty clean install and if i had my seat covered and the cover on, you could really tell that I had a sub there just peaking in. I did that to so i was to keep that rear seat and to keep it conceal so people wouldn't steal it. But yeah they stole my truck and took it anyways. Well in the front dash, i got the alpine type-s 4" which i think is probably give you the most in the low end. I also got the sr5 speaker boxes for it too. So far with the new headunit and everything, it sounds really good from the driver seat, i'm not sure of the passgener seat cause of the sub is on one side.
