Well driving the wifes 94 runner the other day, and it starts running like the fuel filter is stopped up (step on the gas and came out of it). So I buy a filter and change it out. Upon start up it turns over for a second them stops like the battery doesn't have enough power.(kids leave the dome lights on all the time.) Stick the charger on and crank the engine, she starts to run but sounds like crap.Upon further investigation I see coolant running out of the throttle body, head gasket I would assume and the part with the charger and turning it over I just hope there wasn't water leaking into the cylinders and I bend a rod or two. I really think the 3.0 was the biggest piece of sh*t the toyota ever made.

That's why there's 3 or 4 folks here who have done a 3.4 swap.

Check for an oily milkshake on the oil filler cap and the dipstick for an answer.

no water in the oil, maybe thats a plus. I have been reading up on the repairs for this engine and I think I will have a friend take care of the repairs and then sell it. If it was a 22re I would already have it torn down and at the machine shop. This 3.0 only had 100k on it and most were highway miles just doesn't seem right that a toyota would do this. My 85 4x4 pickup w/ a 22re and 230k just keeps on going and no problems

Have him do a leakdown test first, BEFORE you folks go tearing into it. Not sure if the t'body has a gasket for that there, as I'm not familiar with the 3.0.

We DO have an FSM sticky'd for a 93 in the early trucks section that might help troubleshoot it a little more before making any decisions; good luck!!

Getting the Wheeling Fever
What's the latest on this?

Doesn't seem likely to be the problem, but there is a coolant bypass hose bottom side of the throttle body.
