Find a way to punch the existing one into the block, it will not hurt anything in there. The put one of the expandable ones in place and tighten the bolt. Ive never done one on that engine but have on many others. It is usually tight to get to but it should be doable. Big JIm

I usually take a self tapping screw and put it through the plug and then pull the plug out with a piece of mechanics wire wrapped and tied around the ST screw
always working

If they are all rusted and thinned out the screw will not work. Punching it into the coolant jacket has been done by just about everyone for many years. I've never heard of any ill effects. When punching on one side or the other many times the thing will turn sideways in the hole and that enables pulling out with pliers. Big JIm
