I was looking through the summit racing catalogue a few weeks ago and they had carpet kits of 88-84 trucks.... you should check out there website, im thinking an 88-84 is similar to a 84.... might want to check it out i think they were 100-150 bucks for a pre-molded carpet... www.summitracing.com

You can carpet the cab for less about $20-30 tops. Go to Lowe's, HomeDepot, or an auto upohltsy suipply store and buy yourself 2-3 yards of carpet, with a soft pliable backing and some form of adhesive, Ilike to use spray-on carpet glue and liquid nails. If you want insulation you will also need to get some carpet foam, I like using the industrial matting over home. You will also need some thin fishing line, a neeedle, some sharp scissors, a utility knife, and a way to mark the back of the carpet.
First remove the seats, and the shifters, then cut, fit, and glue the padding down if you are using it. Next roll the carpet out so you have plenty of over hang in all directions, I like working from the passenger side. Make sure you have plenty of carpet under the dash and over hang in all directions befoire cutting. You will have 2-3 seams to sew, one in teh corners where the tranny tunnel and the floor boads meat, and one along the top of teh tranny tunnel(thgoiugh the bench seat or center console covers it). It is kind of hard to describe but you basincally smooth out teh carpet along teh tranny tunnel and along teh floorboard, you should end up with a hump along the inside corner of the floor. Cut this hump down the center to about where it starts to smooth out, lay the carpet flat, and either cut both pieces to make a seam, or use the top piece as apatter to cut the bottom piece along, then stitch the two sections together. Next fit teh carpet along the area under the dash working your way out to the door. Don't cut the area along the door sill yet, if you have a lot of carpet you can cut it off bit leave you a few inches of over hang. Repeat the process for the driver's side. Once you finish the drivers side you can work the tranny section back to the back of the cab.back section of the cab. You can cut it and sew it back together or just cut it if the seat or center console covers itand then the door sills. Then work the back of the cab and the door sills, I like leaving the sills for last since if you cut them too short it is the area that most people see. Once you have the carpet cut and laying flat cut out the shifter area. You can then use the spray on glue and liquid nails to hold the carpet in place, the spay on will work for the flatter areas and the liqid nails along the back edges of the cab, and along parts of the tranny tunnel. You will have a better idea of where to use the glue once you strat fitting the carpet. When done through in some floor mats and you shouldn't even see the two seams on the floor board. Reinstall the shifters, the seats, and with some floor mats you shouldn't even see the seams along the inside corner.
This isn't an exact set of instructions, just an idea of how to go about laying the carpet. For your first time it shouldn't take you more than 3-4hrs or so to to get it done. Just take your time and you should have a clean looking install. It won't be as perfect as if you had used molded carpet, but for $20 the $80 you save makes up for it.
More than tread lightly. Leave it like you were never there, nor anyone else. '90 X-cab 4.88's 33 BFG AT's, rr ARB, Headers, Ignition upgrade, cold air induction. '91 X-cab 5.29's 315's BFG MT's, rr ARB, custom bumper and flatbed
