After trying everything else imaginable to fix my power loss problem, I finally pulled the front of the engine off to check the timing belts. It turns out that the key for the main pulley had slipped back and had worn a groove in the softer metal of the pulley itself causing the timing to be off and make the "Un-diesel" rattling sound. So I am now on the hunt for a new pulley. Some call it a balancer pulley, or a harmonizing pulley, but it's basically the main pulley on the front of the crank.
I have found them on the UK website for 68.00 Pounds, which is acceptable but he wants another 75.00 for shipping which is not acceptable.
Anyone have a connection in North America?

Funny you should mention them. I just got off the phone with them when your reply showed up. He thinks he may have a used one in Victoria. I'll find out tomorrow.

Turns out there's no used one. So instead of $80.00 it's $220.00. Sigh.

Wow, for that price (does it include shipping), I'd check out a machine shop.
