I have been reading a lot on diff forums about a prob i am having with my trooper,4x4 light is on, batt light is on, and brake light is on, also the A/C and heat dont work. I am finding a lot of owners of 1996 troops are having the same probs, My alt tested out fine and have a new battery and new batt terminals, doesn't appear to be anything wrong with alt harness.I know for sure that i have one bad A/C relay, but that is the only problem i can find

Is it a factory alternator or a remanufactured alternator? I seem to recall people having problems with the remans doing exactly that, even though they tested good.

not sure about the Alt. just bought the basket case two weeks ago, trying to straighten out someone else's mess. Not to question your theory but why would a alt that tested good do that? Thanks Matt

yes got it fixed it occurred to me last night that the alt that was on the truck didn't have an insulator on the positive out post, after comparing with a spare alt i pick up at a salvage yard I noticed that the alt that was on there was the wrong one (body had a wider profile). I hate fixing other mistakes but i sure do love it when a plan come together, all my idiot lights are now off, didnt check A/C yet but I know that one of my relays was bad. Thanks to everyone for there help, Matt
