Need a Spot
I did a little search on here first to try to find answers but everything seems to be for a 22r. I have a 1994 with a 3.0 and 144K miles. What is considered normal routine maintanance for timing belt replacement?

Does this truck have a timing belt or a timing chain?

Thanks for any help.

Belt. Same for the 3.4
http://www.4x4wire.com/toyota/maintenance/timing_belt/. R&R is similar.

Also check out the maintenance interval for the Tacomas, also in our Toyota section above in the header. Methinks it's 60K for those.

Roll Me Over
Every 80k, so you are either good for a couple of 15k, or long over due. I would take/call the vin# into the dealer and see when/if the HG recall was done. There is a good chance the t-belt was changed at that time.

If you haven't had the truck for a couple of yrs, you should also check to see if the steering relay rod recall has also been done on the truck. From what I can tell the notice of the recall only went out to original purchasers, or those who purchased ithe vehicle through a Toyota dealer. I recieved the notice for my '90(which I bought new), but not the '91 I picked up a few yrs ago.

More than tread lightly. Leave it like you were never there, nor anyone else.
'90 X-cab 4.88's 33 BFG AT's, rr ARB, Headers, Ignition upgrade, cold air induction.
'91 X-cab 5.29's 315's BFG MT's, rr ARB, custom bumper and flatbed

OK good news. I talk to the former owner (my dad) and found out that he had the T-Belt changed at about 100k alond with the water pump and several other items. Looks like I'm off the hook for now. I think all the recalls have been done also. I know the steering rod recall has been done.

Thanks for the good info guys. This site rocks.
