My Tundras O2 sensors are shot and it's made a difference in mileage, also make sure your MAF is clean (hose the two wires inside with brake clean and then gently blow off with air). Hope this helps.

Yikes!! Don't use brake clean; that stuff will attack and melt many kinds of plastics. It is very harsh stuff. Your local autozone, checker/schuck's/kragen, car quest, parts plus, napa, etc. will have electrical parts cleaner (aerosol in a can that looks similar to brake clean) that will do the job safely.

Good luck!

Getting the Wheeling Fever
I use it everytime I clean one, never even phases the housing. Cheap, interior panel type plastic and styrofoam though, yes it'll melt.

I found that CRC makes an actual maf cleaner so I grabbed that.

I also had a question about how much torque should be used on the grommet or cylinder cover bolts? My trusty manual only used the term "snug" which leaves, at least for me, a lot of room for interpretation. I have them past what I would consider snug to the point that there is a black ring from the gaskets squeezing out underneath the metal covers out of fear of leaving them too loose and having to do it over again.

It also looks like i bought the truck just in time since my pos 97 blazer dropped almost all the coolant in my driveway last night. Turns out the radiator is coming apart right at the oil cooler and I also noticed the serpentine belt needs to be replaced and the waterpump should be failing pretty soon as well.

Anyone want to make a few bucks to steal it and drive it off a cliff?

Also when your figuring your mileage out make sure you take into account the tire size differences vs stock. If your truck came with the stock 16's(265/70 16) then you have about a 5% error or so on your speedo which will throw the figures out.

I looked again at my tires and they are 265/70/15's. No biggie though since everything done so far should help since there were alot of things making it run rich. I cleaned the maf real good and noticed an improvement right away and ordered two new denso 4wire o2 sensors so I should be getting some better results and thanks again for those tips.

Will post results and if anyone knows the specs on tightening the 16 grommets down on the heads please let me know since 'snug' doesn't quite cut it with me even though I cranked them down and have had no leaks since.
