i know this sounds like a bad q but i took my 89 3.0 4x4v6 to Firestone yesterday for an oil change went to the truck after it was done and it showed it was low i asked the guy and they said they put the right amount in it 4 qts when i change my own oil i always put in 6 and it reads right

ok how much oil does my truck call for
if it is 4 why doesnt it read right thaNX <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif" alt="" />

My '90 3.0 has always taken 5.5 qts for it to register on the dip stick. In '90 I originally thought that I may have had oil sitting in the head, causing it to read low, so after putting in the 5 qt.s I let it warm up/took it for a short drive, and it still read low. Since then I have just added the extra 1/2 qt. Here is a post fro Marlin on the differing capacities people have come up with.
