ok well i'm trying to get some more things taken care of on the montero for winter... so here it goes.

i'm sure this has been covered many times but is there like a tire picture thread on here for the first gens.

i'm looking at 31x 10.5x 15's or 33x 10.5x 15's bfg at's or mt's as the price is around what i can afford.

also how big of a advantage would having the 33's over the 31's be?

can i put the 33's on with just the torsen bar crank and shackel's? or do i need a body lift?

also i'm sure i need shocks as these ride terrable and rough.

so what are a good shocks that can take some abuse and is for some one on a budget?

ok well sorry for all the questions latly... but thanks for the info guys

PLEASE conduct a search BEFORE asking about tires. There are so many tire threads on here, that I'm SURE you'll find what your after. The pros and cons of 31 vs 33 has been discussed SO many times. Please use the search function.

Shocks: there are many things you need to decide before asking about shocks. What's your price range. What's abuse? Is abuse potholes or boulders? What is going to be the PRIMARY use of your rig. These are things that need to be decided because the answers regarding available shocks are many.

Lift: I, myself, have said many times that I'm running (and wheeling) 33s on my 1990 4 door with no lift. Again, the search function is your friend.

Finally, I think I speak for everyone when I say that the number of questions you ask is not the issue. NOONE here minds helping ANYONE out as we have all been newbies, but at least attempt a search before you ask these questions. Your opening statement was "I'm sure this has been covered before", and you are absolutely correct, this has ALL been covered many times over.

Please ask again after you do some reading...

Here is a thread with pics of all different kinds of Gen I wheel and tire combos and what it took to fit them. I conducted a search and it was about the third page in.

Although you don't necessarily need to: Install a 2" body lift. Add the shackles and crank the torsion bars (not too far, just enough to get the truck back close to level). Get 33's since you have turbo power. Use the BFG A/T's unless 1) you absolutely have to have M/T's because of the hard-core terrain you're going to encounter, or 2) you absolutely have to have the M/T's because they look so much more bad-a$$. 31x10.5 and 33x10.5 will fit on the stock wheel, but anything wider should be on a wider wheel and then you will need to be mindful of what wheel will fit without rubbing on the inside.

And I suggest KYB Gas-A-Just shocks. Firm on the street, perfect off-road, great control in corners and they last a lot longer than the cr@p I've used and seen others use.

There, that wasn't so bad, was it?
