Ring gear and pinion shaft have nothing to do with pulling the axles. Once you have the flange bolts out, a good yank usually gets them to slide out. What vehicle are we talking about?

WHAT are you trying to do? The ring gear cannot be in the way of the pinion shaft, or you have some other serious problems. The ring gear is in the way of the cross pin for the side spider gears, but even that does not need to be removed to pull the axles, as there are no c-clips.

As Rob asked, what exactly is it that you are trying to accomplish?

I was having a hard time getting my axle out as well after my outer bearing toasted itself and the seal. I ended up getting it out after several tries by using a hi-lift jack. I put the base of the jack against the frame and jacked the axle out of the tube. It was tough.

I had a spare axle in the garage that I was able to pull by hand. Two very different experiences pulling axles. A few years back when I pulled both axles to install a locker I pulled them both out by hand. It must have been the heat buildup from the bad bearing that cooked this last one into place.

I should have added that you don't need to even take off the differential inspection cover to pull the axles. On an isuzu Dana 44 the axle is not c-clip retained. You should be able to take it out, easy or not, after you remove the brake caliper, rotor, and 4 backing plate bolts. its the backing plate bolts that hold it in. Not anything in the differential.
