I'll pick you up in Vegas on Oct 5th for the Mojave Road Trip <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/lol.gif" alt="" />

Vegas in October...lets see

1. All the Casino's smell like ash trays except the Bellagio
2. If you accept the free drinks expect to lose 10X that in making bad bets
3. Blue Man Group <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/kewl.gif" alt="" /> Celine <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/barf.gif" alt="" />
4. The sandwiches at New York New York really do taste authentic.
5. Yes that hot girl did wink at you...she smells $$$
6. Anywhere inside or outside the strip you being filmed by at least 6 camera's at all times <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/zombie.gif" alt="" />
7. Don't let the cabbie take the long way to the strip
8. Do not under risk of death play a slot machine unless you
make sure it's "free" otherwise some 300lb lady wearing sweats and a cig in her mouth will show you the ropes
9. Emerils New Orleans fish house...Yeah $30 catfish <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/rolleyes.gif" alt="" />
10. The weather....You will need a jacket at night warming up to the high 70's during the day

Sounds good. I'll bring the libations.

One problem though- seminar is 22-24th, and I have yet to draft my propsal for the trip.

The seminar is in Caesar's Palace...anyone been there?

1. Not a big fan. I know you have to walk through them to get anywhere, but no problem. My lungs have a fine coating of carbon black and teflon from growing up in the Mid-Ohio Valley.

2. No one comps the penny slots. Or do they?

3. Have yet to look into any shows. Know a good place to start?

4. Fat kids like sammiches. Regradless of region, race, or religious affiliation.

5. $$$??? Me??? I'm MARRIED! I have to wake up first in the morning to make sure I have loot in my wallet. If I wake up after her, I seem to mysteriously have no money for lunch.

6. I'm ready for my closeup.

7. No problem- company's dime.

8. Ick...just....ick.

9. Mmmm...fish from a restaurant named after a city that was a cesspool just a few years ago. PASS. Actually..I've had my share of cats from questionable backwaters off the Ohio, so how bad could it be? But, I don't like the big restaurants when I go out of town. I'll hit local joints.

10. Sounds like fat kid weather to me! <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/kewl.gif" alt="" />

October is one of the best months here. Average highs in the low 80's and the lows in the upper 50's.

Start off here: Local Paper Entertainment Section

Food: It seems like every major chef in the world has opened a restaurant here in the last year or so. I just hang out at my local bar (Winchell's Pub & Grub) and don't seem to get out enough for other restaurants.

Shooting: Since you enjoy shooting, see the ar15.com Nevada Hometown Forum for some more information in one of the sticky's there.

Shows: Check out the entertainment guide above...you know your tastes better than I do (haven't been to any shows in the last 6 months). I will say that The Producers was awesome, but don't know what it's like now that Tony Danza replaced the Hoff. Also, you can't go wrong with any of the Cirque du Soleil shows (O, Mystere, Zumanity). Go to Folies Bergere if you want an old school Vegas.

Outdoors - Red Rock Canyon, Lake Mead (what's left of it), Zion.

Gambling - If you want to gamble, try the "local" casinos (i.e. off-Strip): Any of the Station casino's (Red Rock, Green Valley Ranch, etc), The Rio, The Orleans, etc. seem to provide better odds.

I think that's about it. As a local, I avoid the Strip at all costs, so I'm not the best resource for information. Outdoor wise, I spend most of my time in northern Nevada, like areas around Ely and Elko.
