Getting the Wheeling Fever
What do you guys recommend? I just got back from 2 weeks in the mountains and my AT Temp light came on a couple of times, I pulled over and let it cool for 5-10 mins then I was good. Anyway now that Im home Im seeing a tranny fluid leak in my driveway. I guess I might have fried the gasket & seals when it got hot. What do you guys recommend I do now and in the future to stop this. (my last tranny fluid change was 17,000 miles ago...last summer)

Thanks,
D

Find out what exactly is leaking and fix it.

Add UV dye to the tranny fluid and see where it's leaking from.

Check your fan clutch after you fix the leak. An aux cooler is a good thing, but can cause more leaks if not installed properly. An aux fan, or wiring your condenser fan with a switch is another, likely more helpful, idea. You don't move as much air across the core of the radiator when wheeling, so an aux fan will help <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/kewl.gif" alt="" />

What do you first is fix those leaks asap. That can cause the tranny to fry up shortly after. I got an extra tranny coolor installed with a puller fan and had it run "in-series" with the transmission cooling system. You wanna make sure the extra tranny cooler is last in the series before it goes back into the tranny. Mine has a puller fan on it and is some-what below the bumper line so I plan on adding a switch to manually shut it off when doing any type of water crossings.

For the future too, I heard Water Wetter works if you pour it in your tranny before you go wheeling, of course after your cool down or before you start the vehicle in the morning. Fix that leak first and go from there. Good luck,
Angelo

You probably wonÆt believe this but I am a transmission GURU.

This is how to fix it:

1.Buy some black electrical tape.
2.Cut a piece that is exactly the same size as the A/T light.
3.Carefully place it over the A/T light.

With a roll of black tape all of my problems have just simply disappeared.

Kidding bro, good luck with the repair.
