Getting the Wheeling Fever
|
My truck was stolen and recovered. The worthless thing that stole it took my cat. I needed a new manifold and was going to replace it with stock. But now that I have to replace the cat as well I am thinking, upgrade to larger size. It is the 22r engine. Is there anyone that sells systems so I can just buy all things needed at once or am I looking at piecing it together? Any recommendations are very helpful and appreciated. Thanks.

My recommendation is to replace the stock manifold and downpipes. Then go to a 2" cat, 2-1/4" pipe to the muffler, then 2-1/2 out the back.
The stock manifold does a great job and the rest of it just helps get the exhaust out of the way. It will also help keep your off-the-line feel the same as it was.
I had the LC Engineering setup on my truck at one point, but I lost some of the lower end. went back and did basically what I described. I like it much better now.
Just my thoughts. Todd

Are there any brands that have been proven to be better than the others? Any I should avoid?

I think Doug Thorley Headers are a good choice, 2 1/4" stainless pipe a Magnaflow Cat ( Stainless Hi-Flow ) and a Stainless Flowmaster 50 Series. Get an exhaust shop to install the Cat, Piping and Muffler. Bolt on the Header yourself. No huge drop in backpressure so you don't lose bottom end and it sounds real cool
