Steering is heavy and vehicle pulls to the left. Wheel alignment has been adjusted many times and steering is fine for a day or two but then the problem re-occurs. Dealer fitted new power steering pump but this had made no difference. Only 10,000 miles on clock.

Each time you had the alignment adjusted did they actually move anything? Or did they just re-check it? If they are moving parts each time, something is broken or worn out to the point where the alignment isnt taking. Did you just take it to your local tire shop and have the alignment checked, or did you actually take it to a chassis shop?

I had a truck that pulled to one side bad. I checked the air pressure on the right front and it was about 12 psi.

The allowable parameters for wheel alignment from the factory STINK! Take it back and INSIST that they actually put a BETTER alignment on that ride.. You want LESS caster and LESS camber.. The toe should be modestly towed IN.. MAKE them show you the existing numbers and then MAKE them align for easy steering. Big JIm <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/pfft.gif" alt="" />

Had the alignment adjusted at the tyre shop but after 25 miles had it re-checked at same tyre shop and she was off line again. The steering is pulling to left and heavy, and tyre pressure is ok. Going to take it back to dealer and demand they get it right this time. Do you think there would be anything wrong with the steering box as joints should be ok as there is only 10k on the vehicle.

I have found that the DEALER is the only place to get a reliable alignment.. TIRE shops sell tires! So if the alignment wears the tires...Ok for them! The dealer on the other hand works on a "satisified" rating. Every time you visit a dealer you will get either a call or a mailing to describe how satisified you are with the visit.. I ALWAYS have my rides aligned at the dealer in question. With only 10K miles on there I am surprized to hear you went elsewhere for an alignment. What's happenin fellows? I'm new to the forum, but have been on the jeep scene for quite a few years. I'm no expert, but I have tried a lot of remedies that have fixed a lot of problems. You said that your jeep pulls hard to one side. Have you checked the brakes, are they dragging? A good way you can tell is if there is a burning smell of heat coming from one of your tires. I have heard people telling me that their caliper wasn't releasing properly and the vehicle would pull to one side. Most of the time either the caliper was damaged or the fluid was low or old.
