Hi guys, putting my rebuilt 22re back in today and I have the engine bolted up to the tranny, but for some reason I cant get the engine mounts to line up. The mounts on the engine appear to be above the bolts in the engine bay. I've pried and twisted the engine to try to get them to line up, but no dice. Has this ever happened to anyone before? I guess I don't understand how this could happen... Perhaps the engine rested on the mounts and bent them downwards, causing them to not line up? Any tips to help me get the mounts to finally line up? Thanks,

Dan

Some tips on the web page below:

Might be the engine/tranny has shifted forward or back when the old one was pulled. With the angle on the motor mounts, it can appear the holes are off one way when they are actually off in another axis.

Ok, I finally got it. Had to get the 6 ft pry bar to push the engine to the right while prying with my other hand on the motor mount.... I have found putting an engine in on an unleveled gravel driveway is something I never hope to experience again...

Yep, they can be tricky to get lined up with the motor mounts. I had to winch mine forward with a come-a-long and use a long screwdriver to lever the mounts over to get a bolt started. I found that was mainly due to the stock t-case crossmember being located too far back, maybe it was bent. But when I put in the Front Range crossmember with the engine in the proper location, the motor mount bolts just drop into the holes now.

I've found that attaching both halves of the mounts to the engine and then easing it onto the frame works best for lining this stuff up.
