Need a Spot
well i took the montero on a a 700 mile trip last week and it held up fine besides droping some oil pressure say 5 lbs ish by the time i got home... it is fine now, i spose it was just geting warm... idk

but to the frame thing. well while driving on the freeway threw some heavy contruction at night. they were repaving the road and i hit what must have been like a bump up from cutting out the old surface. well i hit it at about 75-80mph and it felt like the hole suspension riped off... not very good.

well i didn't see any bump sign's or what not...

well afte pulling over to find out what had broke as there was a noise/creeking sound cominf from the rear end.

well in the rear on the drivers side the front leaf spring mount broke off the frame is was hanging on bye the back on the frame just barely. well i was angry and said screw it and just headed home hearing this creeking al the way home.

i have tried welding it back up there but it is so rusted it just won't weld. now granted i don't mig weld much, i mostly tig.

what would the best way to go about geting it to hold up threw winter. I'm looking for a quick fix thats all...

pics up soon...

There is no "quick fix" for your problem that will make your truck road worthy. Fix the rust so you can get a proper weld and make sure there's no other place that your frame can "break" and hurt someone else.

Please let me know where you'll be driving this vehicle so I can tell my family to stay away...

Damn, I'm getting defensive in my old age...

Body Damage is Cool
Check out Capncrunchs repair job on his rear leaf hanger. It is well done. Something that I need to do in the future.

75-80 in a construction zone. Now thats a big ticket if caught.

Here in SC, the state highway department will pay for damage to a vehicle caused by construction work..... if you ask. A friend just had the state pay for detailing her car after driving through an area of repaving and getting tar all over the sides.

Check your local regulations and see what might be covered.... if it's covered, have the frame professionally repaired at state highway department expense.

I assumed he was crusing through at night when no workers were there? Thats when I have been hitting the road construction around here. After work.. midnight... totally empty of folks.

You pay shipping, and wait until I strip the black Raider parts car, adn I'll make you a great deal on a frame. Otherwise, you're welcome to the remnant and strip at your convenience....a nice Cali rust free frame....

As I work in construction, I can lend you advice that you should always be on-guard and probably shouldn't traverse a construction zone over 55, even when there are no workers. You never know what someone 'forgot' to pick up (shovels, trowels, paint cans) or mark (dips, ruts, potholes).
