The suggested replacement interval for the older 3.4L timing belts is 60K miles and 90K miles for the newer. Anyone have any idea what, if anything, changed from the older to the newer? Are the newer timeing belts made better and if they are will a belt replaced on a 96 be a 90K belt? Did the upper/lower idler or belt tensioner components change? Maybe they just determined that the belts lasted at least 90K miles and changed the recommend change interval, just speculation on my part.
Thanks In Advance for any insights regarding the above. Regards Ron
