So Yeah I have ran two tanks of gas through the Raider. one averaged 18 mpg on the inter state and the other 17.5.

Please tell me it is so low beacause my "check EGR" light is on!

If this is normal, I will have to sell this thing.

I get about 17/18 MPG/city with my 3.0 V-6, 17.5 can't be normal...

Well shucks.

The (not nice person) that sold it to me said it gets 25ish around town!!!!

Will a Weber improve my mileage?

And this little motor is all but useless on the interstate. Seems to be struggling above 73mph. Is that normal?

My priorities for getting the wife & I a new used vehicle was 1.ECONOMY, 2. 4x4. ugh.

You have a fully boxed frame with an all metal body and bumpers and a heavyish 109hp carbed engine with 4.625 axle gears. Be happy with 17.

Your gearing is working against any thought of 25 MPG. The struggling at 73 MPH shouldn't happen. As I remember from my 2.6 the Mikuni carburetor is kind of like having a constantly running toilet flowing into your engine. They had a lot of trouble with the choke not wanting to completely open along with internal leakage, thin walls, heat problems, etc. Speaking from experience the Weber (if allowed in your state) will do wonders for your performance mileage wise as well as on accel and top end. I cammed mine when I put the Weber on and was really happy with it up until the day the facing came off the cam and turned into liquid sand paper (Crower cam) and lunched the engine 19,000 miles later. Rebuilt it and was GTG until I sold it.
