Like it states, i have a 1994 4runner to pick up in socal and drive it all the way up to washington. Can it be done in a 2001 v6 extra cab sr5 4x4? Or will i just toast the engine and clutch? Thanks for the help!! I looked up gross vehicle wieght for a 94 4runner and its right around 3700 lbs. But i think i will take the seats out to try to lighten up the load.

Your truck is rated to tow 5000lbs, so the weight should be no problem. The extra weight will likely force you to slip the clutch a bit more than usual to get moving from a full stop, but as long as you're careful, you shouldn't have clutch problems.

If you're going to dingy-tow it (all 4 wheels on the ground), you'll need a good tow bar to be safe, and should remove both front and rear driveshafts on the runner before you tow it. You will also need a set of those add-on (magnetic mount) turn signals (or you could hack into the runner's harness to make it's signals work).

If you're using a car trailer or 2-wheel dolly, just make sure you've got the runner tied down securely. Again, I'd recommend additional turn signals on the back with the dolly.

Good luck!

thanks!!! thats what i wanted to hear. I have a two wheel tow dolly and will be using that. Good to know that i can tow that much. Ya i am going to remove the rear drive shaft after i get it onto the dolly, should make it roll a little easier also.
