Getting the Wheeling Fever

I guess I spoke too soon. Went out this morning and its doing the same darn thing as before. Turn the key everything else is fine but just the starter relay clicks (or what I'm assuming to be the relay). So in an attempt to "tap" on it I broke the top of the relay housing, actually cracked it. Tried it again and it did the same thing. I had a friend turn the key while looking in the housing and it is moving but apparently not ENOUGH. I cut the top off of it and exposed the spring and slider I had the key on and NO CLUTCH pushed in (because I was out side the vehicle) I put the tip of my pencil in between the copper connector and the slider....started right up.
Here is my question, is this the starter relay? its located on the passenger side of the truck on the fender wall mounted on the outside of an unpainted bracket. There are several other relays under this bracket this one is the ONLY one mounted on the outside of it. I know its fairly safe to assume its the starter relay but If someone could confirm this I would appreciate it. I was thinking it also may be whatever this relay is receiving juice from that is not allowing ENOUGH to fully engage it. Like I said when I turn the key its clicking but just not enough to catch, but when I do the pencil thing it engages and starts. Thanks for any help.

Thanks I'm pretty sure the relay I'm talking about is not the starter relay...I suspect its the ignition relay. I cant find it in my book and have not been able to do a search on line yet..I do that right now. the problem is there are NO identifying marks or numbers to reference. I guess no one knows what I'm talking about or they would have replied. I will post a pic maybe that will help. Ok the image on the left is the relay in quesion on the right is the location.

Now were talking. I could not find it in my Chilton's manual I think the page is missing, some are, Ive had it through 2 troopers now. Thanks for the link also. I came across that site once before and never bookmarked it. I went to Auto Zone yesterday before I added the pics and they only had one starter relay for the trooper and the configuration was different. Each time I go into pretty much ANY auto parts place I always hold out hope I will get someone that will know what they are talking about. Only to find out if I do not have EXACTLY what I need with part numbers, etc. I might as well be playing Russian roulette.
Thanks very much for the help now I just have to find where I can get it locally.. Its my understanding that some relays are universal among several vehicles if I cant find it under trooper perhaps I will under something else.
Thanks again J.P

Ok I found the relay its part number is RY54 and it came from CAR QUEST.
It fits 81-82 GM 81-89 ISUZU and 81-84 Nissans. the OEM part number was not producing any results so we looked throught the book and found this one bases on apperance..its just happend to be the right one.
BTW this fixed the starting problems...for now....
Hopefully others can use this info and no go thourgh the pain of trying to find it.
