I'm new here----

I'm thinking of purchasing a friends 1995 Jeep (Sahara edition) The price seems resonable... This will be my first Jeep (Though not my first 4x4). The vehicle has spent a majority of its life in Southern California and has been stored for the past few years. It has been run intermittantly while in storage. I have yet to see it in person.

Anything I should be aware of that may come back to bite me later?

Thank you for your assistance!

Ed

Look at the price and compare that price to a 97 or newer... 95 was the last year for the "square" headlight Jeep.. The newer ones are totally different and much more diserable.. to most Jeep owners.
Go ahead and give us the skinnys of what is on that Jeep and the price too..

He is asking only $3,000 for the vehicle. I do know that the radio has been stolen out of it and I heard that the engine had been either replaced or rebuilt. I'm pretty sure it's a straight 6, 5 speed. I haven't seen it yet, so don't have any idea what else is on it or what it's actual condition is. I'm thinking of offering $2750 for it, as is, knowing I'll need to go through it from stem to stern.

I'd rather have a '97 or newer round headlight model, but this will only be used once in a while. Out here in the desert, we have lots of sagebrush that grows over the trails so I know that the paint will get torn up a lot. Actually, we call those scrapes, "Owens Valley Pin Stripes".

Are there any things to watch out for in this model year/Series (1990-1995)? There were a few recalls listed on another website, but nothing too major. I know that the six cyl. engine can be bulletproof IF taken care of, but are there any "lingering" problems? For instance: Are there known problems with the Tub rusting out early...Transmission or transfer case problems...Electrical problems. Basically, I'm looking to see if this vehicle will leave me stranded in the backcountry!

As soon as I have any more information on the vehicle, I will post it here.
