Along with that new (atom?)tranny you'll need new brackets, pedals, shift levers, boosters, lines, sensors, radiator, transmission mounts, front and rear drive lines, transfer case, wiring diagrams and all the other crap associated with an automatic transmission.

Not impossible, we swapped a 5 speed into an auto XJ but it ain't easy or cheap! <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/kewl.gif" alt="" /> Good luck.

How did you trash the tranny and the diff at the samee time?
You should be able to find a USED tranny at a junk yard for 4 or 500 bucks.. and a used diff for 3 or 400 bucks make sure the diff has the propper gears in it.
Most guys with a few friends can install trannys and diffs at home.

Well Phil you get the prize. I've never heard of anyone braeaking both the tranny and the diff at the same time.
Try to tell us what size tires you have on there and what you were doing when they broke..
Both the tranny and the diff you have are serving many off-roaders quite well. Changing them both for stronger models will probably cost MORE then 4 thousand dollars..
You probably have the trusty 3:07 gear in the diffs.. Changing the gears would probably be the cheapest up grade for you.

Running 33" tires with 3.07 gears in the diffs puts a hellova strain on the entire drivetrain, including the engine. Whatever you do to get it running again, be sure to install the proper gear ratio in the diffs. At least 4.10, but 4.56 would be better.
