I'm needing a clutch and was wondering how much of a pain it is to do it yourself. I've replaced the clutch on my '95 civic which was not bad. Basically, I need to know if any of the components are too difficult to get to without dropping the engine, as I had to do with my '88 supra. I have the factory manual and tools are not a problem, generally speaking.
thanks

Getting the Wheeling Fever

I did it myself and used an OEM clutch. I only had two problems. There was some confusion in making sure the clutch disc was facing the right way. My stock disc was installed the reverse of most installations. The factory service manual also stated that it went on that way (1997 V6).-search back a few months for post.
The second problem was getting the transmission and transfer case to balance properly on my jack. I bought a pretty heavy transmission jack, and even with that, the balance and rotation of the assembly was hard to get right to line it up. It took me an hour or two to get the assembly back on the engine. I went a little slow and the whole job probably took me 6-8 hours.
After I was done the action of the clutch seemed very light, but it is still ok after 10,000 miles.
Other than that, it was ok and I would do it myself again.

Its pretty straight forward. Nothing special is needed except maybe a tranny jack. I used a floor jack w/ a plate bolted to it and got by ok.

Thanks for the replies. I forgot to mention that I have a 2WD truck. The manual indicates that the engine needs to be pulled on the 2WD, while it does not indicate that on 4WD versions. If that's true, it's too bad for me....
