Getting the Wheeling Fever
Hi guys,

I'm new to the "Mitsubishi Diesel" Forum but posted a few on the "Mitsubishi tech" as my import from Japan was gasoline (had issues with ECU).
I think most of you guys are getting your lights from the US with DOT/SAE that use the 9004 bulbs for headlights on them. That means re-wiring your headlights from H4 to 9004, loosing the corner lights right?
When my Pajero arrived, I looked into getting E Coded headlights and corner/turn signal lights from Europe, such as the Delica guys are doing. This way, I could use my brighter H4's on the headlights, maintain my corner lights (I think this is not available for NA) and the swap would be simple, just plug and play (you can use the corner lights too!).
Well sure enough, I found a supplier on eBay Germany (ebay.de).
This guy was great, his prices were reasonable, the items were solid, and along with shipping, the total cost was Ca$260 for me (will fluctuate with market rates). This included L&R headlights and corner/turn signal lights plus shipping and insurance. Headlights were E coded for LHD (sorry forget what country, but definately for LHD), and the turn signals also E coded (sorry forget what country once again but under T/C, and those provinces that adopt T/C rules this should be compliant.)
A WORD OF CAUTION though. It seems some OOP mechanics will not pass E coded headlights/corner lights, even though they are for LHD and should be compliant.
So check/do your research before you buy.
PM me if you want the contact for the lights!!
...And no, I don't get anything for referrals like kickbacks and such. Just wanted to tell you guys of an alternative to NA 9004's, a simple swap and keeping your corner lights, while being fully compliant to TC and hopefully your Provinces!
Cheers guys <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/cheers.gif" alt="" />

Excellent info, and cheaper than what I paid for new US headlights. Got a pic of the E-code signals? I just put my JDM signals back in, as I'm 100% certain that I'll never be bothered about them.

You ARE lucky!

I paid 622.94 CAD.
I heard you can use JDM fromt corner lights (in BC at least), in that case you'll need to put yellow reflectors.

Post your Pajero pics.

Good luck!

Sorry, I'm kinda new to forum posting and can't seem to post pics. I guess I need my own website to post?
The yellow or orange portion is more on the outside compared to the jdm's. Other than that they are identical.
And your'e right, I know the turn signals don't have to be E, DOT or SAE, but it seems most OOP mechanics don't know this? Some don't even know E codes are acceptable under TC and those provinces who adopt this...

the side portion of yellow turn lights should be with reflectors, otherwise you need to stick separate reflectors.
About 5 bucks in Crappy Tire, not a big deal.

Cheers,

Yeah, it's amazing what the inspectors don't know (or what they think they know). I'm glad for these forums so future importers can educate themselves.

Mine passed after the mechanic saw the proper signals, but I have a list of things that he should have checked and didn't. Each inspector seems to key on one or two things they know they can check easily, but doesn't read the book too closely.
