any of you guys ever tried to put a sc14 toyota supercharger on a 2.6l? Just wondering if it would be worth the trouble, because it looks possible.

Getting the Wheeling Fever

I thought about doing all those crazy mods to gain more power out of my 2.6L, every time I searched it or asked for any input about it; engine swap seemed to be the best option and a warrantee powerà I decided to go for the 98+ 3.2L so one day I can add a Super Charger when I feel the time for more powerà

So, how much does a supercharger decrease gas mileage? Let's say I get 18 mpg just going down the highway. What would it decrease with a supercharger, assuming I drove the same and didn't put my foot into it?

assuming I drove the same and didn't put my foot into it? That's the big assumption. Most people like to feel/use the power and that equals a decrease in economy.

My brother got alot better milage on the highway.
While following my trooper on a road trip (65-70mph, my troopers slow) he got about 30mpg. With the supercharger he was barly on the gas to cruise at 65. It was a 300+ mile trip. Its a 98 amigo 3.2L ARB bull bar, 32's, 3" lift, alpine supercharger.
Its a kick in the pants when you want it to be though.

I love the acceleration, especially when it passes 5,500 rpms But, it's hard to understand the physics of how a supercharger could increase mpg. More air in cylinder would mean more gas also to maintain the right air/fuel ratio.

Yeah I hear ya, I think it has something to do with the engine not having to work as hard to maintain speed. While at 65mph the engine isn't under boost, He's got 25lbs of vacume but the supercharger is still spinning so I think it just helps the engine breath.???? But it does help his milage on the highway, only highway though. When he gets under boost it drinks alittle _Chris..
