Anyone have any idea?
Cannot press the piston back in. Pad is still in. No amount of pressure including c clamp helps. Have also drained part of the fluid from the line.

Sounds like it's cock-eyed in the bore.
Fasteddy's advice is occasionally sound...

cock-eyed in the bore?
I am getting a little cock-eyed in the head.
How can I check and fix it?
Hate to be such a bore.

Can you replace the entire caliper? (parts availability question) Once it gets cocked in the bore, the damage is pretty much done.

Yes, but first I have to learn how to say cock-eyed in the bore in German.
I was afraid that was the answer.

I had a seized caliper a while back, and couldn't get new calipers very quickly, so I rebuilt mine - it was a PITA, but I did get the piston out - I used a BIG c-clamp, and also used the pressure in the system to eventually force the piston out of the caliper - if you go this route, make sure you have new seals/wipers to replace the old ones, and lots of patience.

Blow it out with pedal pressure. No other method can apply that much force. And it will make a mess....
K-D sells a couple of caliper piston presses. One is just a plate to seat against the caliper with a screw-in pressure screw, and the other anchors the same, but applies pressure like a caulking gun with a squeeze handle and a "ratcheting" pressure rod. I really like the second one. About $40 at NAPA.
