ok this is what i have. 3.4 w/ a340f auto tranny. problem is sometimes you turn the key and nothing, but if you move the shifter thru the gears and back to pack it starts, also the back-up lights no longer work. originally thought the starter was about to bite the dust but the whole back-up lights and moving the shifter thing has thrown me. starter or switch on tranny what u think? thanks in advance

Sounds like transmission switch, get the wiring diagram you might figure out how to defeat it.
