Ok, I have a '94 4x4 pickup that ran when parked a couple of years ago. It has a trany problems in that it only has 4th gear working. The trany will be replaced with a rebult, I was going to do the rebuild myself but I just haven't had the time. The clutch will also be replaced when I do the trany swap. Which rebuilt transmissions suppliers are trustworthy to provide an excellent rebuilt tranny? Who makes good clutches that can stand abuse? The majority of the use will be on the farm, but I'd like it to handle going down 0 maintence roads in the wilderness, possibly some limited rock crawling. I plan on normally using it for general farm use and it will occasionally see overloaded conditions where it will need to start and stop often on steep inclines. My farm has very little flat land.

What else should I look at due to the extended park time? The gas in the tank has ethanal in it. I plan on changing the oil and filter before trying to start it. I also plan on cleaning out the air ways and give it a new air filter as I dug a mouse nest out of the air box this past spring when I went to steel the air filter for my other Toyota pickup. I had been starting it and warming it up fully every three months or so. I think it has stuck drums in the rear, but I plan on replacing them as they have a slight warp. Any recommended methods for unsticking Toyota drum brakes?

In the short term future I'm putting on some 31" cast off tires and wheels from my sister-in-law's 4runner. What needs to be changed for the larger tires? Is it worth regearing the transaxels from the stock ratios?

I also want to strengthen the rear suspension. I had 4 sheets of marble in the rear for a couple of years and that did a number on the leaf springs. Also the multiple times I've dumped 200 packs of steel fence posts in there has also taken its' toll on them.

In the long run I'm thinking of making a sturdy insulated metal back to replace the pickup bed for camping in grizzly bear country. I like to photograph wildlife and I like to sleep warm and secure at night.

I've been looking through many posts on this and other boards. A diesel swap using one from a JARCO 1/2 clip is looking very tempting. New trany, diesel engine and transfer case is tempting. My transfer case is nearing gear life expectancy, and my engine will need replacing sometime in the next 25,000 miles.

Both these places sound good from my web search, but I have no personal experience with them.
