Well, the "party for the people" is at it again when it comes to conservative talk radio. They claim to be all for free speech until that free speech goes against their beliefs. Here are your tax dollars at work.

Note the honest response as to why the attack. "If we can take them off their game for a while, it will help our folks out there on the campaign trail." They admit to attacking free speech for political gain!!
Waxman to investigate talk radio

Here is what they want to impose on talk radio. The Fairness Doctrine would force broadcasters to give equal time to both sides in order to keep things "fair." There's only one problem, democratic talk radio doesn't make money. Look at the latest go, Air America was on air for a short while and filed chapter 11 with over $20 million in debts that it could not pay. Look at conservative talk radio which, for the most part, makes a lot of money in advertising. Rush Limbaugh has over 20 million listeners, Sean Hannity is another successful Republican talk radio host. The broadcasters carry their show because they make money. Enacting this "Fairness Doctrine" would force the broadcastert to carry shows that lose money. All this because they don't like what the hosts have to say.
Fairness Doctrine

Your tax dollars at work people.

The government should not have anything to do with it. If new agencies would never let a sponser dictate whats news and whats not we would have more accurate stories I'm sure.

Fair? Silly democrats, sell some airtime to Playtex or something if your station is that broke! Dont make more stupid laws because your inefective.

I really do think they all suck.

Agreed. I don't mind them being on the air as long as they do not have to silense someone else to accomplish that goal. I think gone are the days of pure unadulterated freedom and politicians who do what's right for the country regardless of political association.

This is how the Dems have been since the '60's, they do this even on college campuses. Funny how the left feels that the right can corrrupt minds, yet there rhetoric doesn't. I will gladly accept there proposal, just as soon as the evening news and CNN starts reporting equally

>>>*One point I find intersting is the left thinking folks constantly demand their "rights" and freedoms.

Yet let a conservative speaker show up at to talk at some college functions and we see them shouted down, even physically attacked like happened to a representative of the Minutemen. While I suspect it happens, I don't see much of that type of action from the conservative side, partly because..well...they are conservative.

It seems that the right to free speech only applies when certain elements agree with what is being said.

The so-called "Fairness doctrine" would be a major step towards the elimination of free speech...*EB

Exactly! If it comes up for a vote we need to do what we did with the amnesty bill and flood our representatives offices with letters and phone calls!

There is NO reason...not to take a preemptive strike. I've been writing my representatives about this for a long time.

I would rather suffer the consequences of a Conservative?s error, than suffer the consequences of a Socialist's intent.
